The Westcliff Hotel

At the end of the 1980's, Johannesburg in particular, and South Africa in general suffered from a shortage of top-end luxury hotels. The Southern African market was dominated by the likes of Southern Suns and Sun International and there was a glaring absence of top international brands and groups. With the un-banning of the ANC and reentry of South Africa into the community of nations in 1990, Aaron saw the opportunity for the reentry of international hotel groups into the South African market and the construction and development of new four and five star hotels within the country.

The landmark Westcliff Hotel was conceived, facilitated and developed by Aaron Stanger of the Twin Towers Group during 1994. The hotel was redeveloped out of a luxury villa development and is now part of the exclusive Orient-Express Group of Hotels. The Westcliff marked a watershed in the South African hotel industry as the first of a number of five star hotel operations that opened in South Africa during the period 1994 - 1999. The Westcliff was also one of the first truly luxury boutique hotels in the South African market and the Westcliff Hotel remains one of the flagship hotels within the Orient-Express Group bouquet of international hotels.

During the period 1994 - 1999, Aaron Stanger and the Twin Towers Group, now the Towerex group, have consulted to many hotel, leisure and casino developments. Twin Towers was involved with advising many of the then aspirant casino operators. The hotel and leisure industries remain a core consulting focus of the Towerex Group.
